Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with the Chairman of the Expediency Council of Iran

A wide range of partnership issues, both in a bilateral format and within the framework of major international organizations, were discussed today in Tehran by the head of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the chairman of the Iranian Expediency Council Sadeq Amoli Larijani, the Turkmen State News Agency reports.

Speaking about the importance of building up Turkmen-Iranian relations in all priority areas, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Chairman of the Council of Expediency of the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that there are great prospects for further expansion and bringing partnership between the two countries to a higher level.

Topical topics of regional and international politics of mutual interest also became the subject of discussion. In this context, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that as a result of the complex processes taking place today in the international arena, Central Asia and its neighboring states are in the center of attention of the whole world. In this regard, special attention is paid to ensuring security and stability in the region, one of the key issues on the agenda of bilateral relations.

An exchange of views also took place on Turkmen-Iranian cooperation on issues related to the Caspian Sea. In this context, the importance of the specific agreements reached following the results of the sixth Caspian summit of the heads of state of the region, held on June 29, 2022 in Ashgabat, was noted.

We remind that the head of the highest representative body of the people's power of Turkmenistan is in Iran on a working visit. Earlier, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with the Chairman of the Iranian Parliament. During the meeting, the parties agreed to create an inter-parliamentary group, whose activities will be aimed at the progressive development and expansion of interstate dialogue.
