The current Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is gaining 49,35% of the vote after opening 100% of the ballot boxes within the framework of the vote count in the presidential elections held on Sunday, the unified opposition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu secured the support of 45% of the voters, reports the state TV channel TRT.
The third candidate from the “ATA Alliance”, Sinan Ogan, received 5,22%. Candidate Muharrem Ince, who withdrew his candidacy, received 0,43% of the vote.
To win in the first round, one of the candidates had to receive 50% plus one vote. Since this did not happen, the presidential race will continue in the second round, which will be held on May 28.
