The Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership was signed today following the talks in Dushanbe by the Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. This was announced by the Tajik leader, making a statement to the media, the text of which was published by the press service of Emomali Rahmon.
“We have just adopted the Declaration and raised the relations between our countries to the level of an in-depth strategic partnership. This historic decision meets the fundamental interests of our peoples and is one of the important factors in the development and stability of the region,” said Emomali Rahmon.
He called the visit of Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tajikistan a significant event in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, noting the importance of maintaining a regular political dialogue at all levels.
The President of Tajikistan also said that during the talks an agreement was reached to increase the efficiency of the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
“The governments of our countries will work out and present relevant proposals for a qualitative rise in economic ties. The documents signed today on the further development of trade and economic ties will undoubtedly contribute to the solution of this problem,” Rahmon said.
