On Saturday, Turkmenabat hosted the first Eco-Festival in honor of Earth Day, organized by the US Embassy in Turkmenistan and the American Corner of Turkmenabat in cooperation with the Government of Turkmenistan and the Hakimlik of Turkmenabat.
The event took place in the city park "Bitaraplyk" and was open to the general public.
According to a press release from the Embassy, after the opening ceremony, guests of the festival were able to participate in thematic events organized in different parts of the park, including stands on art, education, technology and culture.
The festival was opened by US Ambassador to Turkmenistan Matthew Klimow, who, in his opening speech, emphasized the importance of the daily individual contribution of each person to environmental protection.
"This event is a global reminder of the importance of protecting our planet and conserving its natural resources. This is a day when we can reflect on our relationship with the environment and recommit ourselves to protecting it with our actions," said Ambassador Klimow.
