The issues of strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached at the highest level were discussed today during a telephone conversation by the Presidents of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the press service of the Uzbek leader reports.
The parties positively assessed the fruitful results of the recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, as well as the meetings held between the foreign ministries, the ministries of transport, culture and other events.
Special attention was paid to issues of trade and economic cooperation, primarily the creation of the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone, the implementation of cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy, and the continuation of active cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced his intention to continue making efforts to bring relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan to a higher level.
The heads of state also discussed the schedule of upcoming events, exchanged congratulations and sincere wishes in connection with the upcoming holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
During a telephone conversation, the head of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the head of the neighboring state for deep condolences in connection with the death of his grandmother Ogulabat Berdimuhamedova, emphasizing that he highly appreciates the support provided and cherishes the fact that the people of Uzbekistan and its leader share the deep sorrow and bitterness of loss in these difficult days .
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again expressed sincere words of support and sympathy to his Turkmen colleague, noting that the good memory of Ogulabat eje will forever remain in everyone’s hearts as a wise and merciful person who made a huge contribution to strengthening the high values of the Turkmen people and the moral and spiritual education of the young generations.
Today, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held another telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during which the parties discussed issues of cooperation in trade, economic, energy and water management, as well as aspects of regional cooperation in Central Asia.
