AFC approves new dates for Asian Football Cup in Qatar

The AFC has approved new dates for the final tournament of the Asian Cup in football, as well as a list of stadiums that will host the matches of the tournament.

The meetings will be held from January 12 to February 10 next year.

The Asian Cup matches in Qatar will be held at eight stadiums: “Al-Bayt” (El-Khaur), “Abdullah bin Khalifa” (Doha), “Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium” (Al Rayyan), “Al-Janoub” (El-Khaur), Wakra), “Al-Thumama” (Doha), “Evolution City” (Ryyan), “Khalifa International” (Doha) and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad stadium (Doha).

Initially, China was supposed to host the tournament, but in May 2022, the country refused to host the tournament. The Asian Cup was supposed to start on June 16, 2023.

The AFC Asian Cup in Qatar will run for 30 days, two days more than the previous tournament in 2019 in the UAE

The draw ceremony for the Asian Football Cup will be held at the Qatar Opera House in Doha on May 11 at 16:00 Ashgabat time. The tournament schedule will be announced shortly after the draw.
24 national teams will take part in the tournament.

Through the matches of the third qualifying round, Jordan, Indonesia, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Thailand, India, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Malaysia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan got to the Asian Cup. The national teams of Iran, the Republic of Korea, the UAE, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Australia, Oman, Vietnam, China and Qatar secured a place in the final of the 2023 Asian Cup back in 2021 following the results of the second round of the World Cup qualifying tournament -2022. The national team of Turkmenistan will not play at the Asian Cup in 2023.
