The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took part in the ministerial meeting “Central Asia – USA”

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov took part today in a high-level meeting in the C5 + 1 format, which was held in Astana with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and heads of foreign affairs agencies of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev, Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin and Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov.

As report the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, the meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues, including economic and energy cooperation, climate change, and counterterrorism.

Following the meeting, the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries and the United States reaffirmed their commitment to further cooperation within the C5 + 1 format and agreed to continue the exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.

The C5 + 1 format is a multilateral mechanism for interaction between the five countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) and the United States. It was created in 2015 to discuss regional issues in the fields of economy, ecology, security, humanitarian and educational cooperation.

Earlier, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting in the “C5 + 1” format, Rashid Meredov held talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev and Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi.
