In Belarus, a 10-fold decrease in the number of children's boarding schools has been noted due to the development of the institution of family-type orphanages, reports the BelTA news agency.

The Belarusian Children's Fund provides serious support to family orphanages. As Elena Simakova, deputy head of the social, educational and ideological work department of the Ministry of Education, told BelTA correspondents, the development of a network of family-type orphanages in the country began in the 1990s-2000s. During this time, the number of ordinary boarding-type children's homes in the republic has decreased by 10 times. At present time, more than 88% of children left without parental care are brought up in family orphanages.

The Belarusian Children's Fund takes part in the implementation of the state program to reduce children's residential institutions.
