The number of city rats is growing in France

Residents of French cities are concerned about the growing number of rats, writes “Komsomolskaya Pravda” with reference to Le Parisien. It is assumed that in such large cities as Lyon and Bordeaux, there are already more than twice the number of people themselves.

This increase in the population of gray pests is associated with an increase in food waste on the streets. After the lifting of COVID restrictions, the French began to take to the streets en masse, walk and eat on the go or in street cafes. In addition, an important role is played by the general warming of the climate, which causes increased reproduction of rodents.

A representative of the disinfection and rodent control union believes that to combat the invasion of rats, it is necessary to re-introduce the use of poisonous substances, as well as make garbage containers hermetically sealed so that rodents cannot climb into them.
