The Polish airline LOT did not permit musician Janusz Wawrowski to bring a Stradivarius violin on board as hand luggage, writes Izvestiya with reference to the Simple Flying portal.

The musician was going to take an airline plane from Vilnius to Warsaw. He planned to carry the violin in the cabin as hand luggage, but the airline representatives forbade him to do so, offering either to check in the violin in luggage, or not to fly at all.

The violin case did not violate any carry-on baggage rules, as it did not exceed any weight or size restrictions. It was not possible to agree with representatives of the airline, and Wawrowski was forced to go to Warsaw by bus.

The violin, owned by Wawrowski, was made by the master Antonio Stradivari in 1685, its cost is estimated at 5 million euros.
