Qatar from February 1, 2023 has started requiring local health insurance for entry, the Gulf Times reports with the reference to a decision of the Ministry of Health of Qatar.

From now foreign citizens will need medical insurance issued by companies registered with the Ministry of Health of Qatar. The health insurance policy is issued for 30 days and costs 50 Qatari rials. It covers emergency services in case of accidents.

Tour operators informed ATOR that insurance can be purchased upon arrival to the international airport Hamad in Doha. It is possible to obtain health insurance in advance on the website of the Qatari Health Ministry by paying with an international bank card online.

The availability of insurance will be checked when passing the border at Doha Airport.
