In Russia, propose to reduce the voting age and permit young people over 16 years old to take part in elections as voters, writes the “Izvestia” newspaper.

On January 12, representatives of the LDPR party headed by Leonid Slutsky intend to submit a bill to lower the age threshold for voting in the State Duma. Members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation also agree with their position. In Russia, citizens receive a passport at the age of 14, from the age of 16 they can get married, officially work and engage in entrepreneurial activities, but at the same time they are denied the right to vote, the authors of the initiative explain.
