The French baguette entered the list of non-material UNESCO writes “MIR 24” – such decision was adopted during 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, which is currently taking place in Morocco.

Freshly baked baguette is one of the symbols of France and French cuisine. Its distinctive feature is a crispy crust and tender crumb, as well as a shape – a narrow loaf up to 65 cm long, sprinkled with flour on top. Baguette is best used in freshly baked form.

The baguette was offered to be included to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO by French President Emmanuelle Macron back in 2018.

“Baguette is the daily life of the French, and bread is a special story, it is the daily morning, noon and evening of the French”, thus explained the head of the Fifth Republic his initiative.
