In October, in Ashgabat, Turkmenabat and Turkmenbashi was held a number of trainings for women – entrepreneurs on the formation of skills and competencies for foreign economic activities.
In total, more than 70 women from business sphere took part in the training.
The trainings were held by the International Trade Centre (ITC) within the framework of Ready4Trade project in Central Asia, financed by the European Union (EU).
The trainings covered a wide range of topics, including the basic rules and state regulation of foreign economic activity, customs legislation and customs documentation, foreign trade contracts and commercial negotiations, as well as border crossing by individuals.
The ITC National Consultant Arslan Joraev and practicing lawyer Iqbal Said Allauddin provided the participants with the opportunity to discuss issues directly related to their business activities.
Besides the theoretical part, the participants also made exercises that included real cases from life.
Assistant of the Head of Mission of the EU Delegation in Turkmenistan Laura Berzina noted:
“The European Union and Ready4Trade project, particularly, pays great attention to enterprises headed by women, and we are pleased that the fact that the number of the women-enterpreneurs increased in Turkmenistan. The products they produce are unique, colorful, of good quality and is ready for export. Some of the female business holders have already participated in the initiatives on learning of export management and e-commerce, conducted by Ready4Trade project, and we already see perfect results, such as development of export activity and improved online sales”.
A series of October trainings allowed women entrepreneurs to systematize their knowledge in the field of customs legislation and the regulatory framework governing the implementation of foreign economic activity, to study the specifics of concluding international contracts and the specifics of negotiating with foreign partners, as well as to familiarize themselves with the rules, rights and obligations when crossing the border and legislative aspects of protecting women's rights.
The Ready4Trade Central Asia project operates in 5 countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and its activities cover state and public institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, enterprises headed by women and business support and development organizations in these countries.
