President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has sent sincere congratulations and best wishes to his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Austria celebrated today.

Taking this pleasant opportunity, the Head of Turkmenistan expressed sincere wishes to President Alexander Van der Bellen of good health, happiness and well-being, and peace, further progress and prosperity for all the people of the Republic of Austria, reports today the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

The National Day of the Republic of Austria is celebrated on October 26 in the country as one of the most important state holidays. Its history is connected with the withdrawal of foreign troops, which were located on the territory of Austria for 10 years after the end of the World War II and in memory of proclamation of permanent neutrality in 1955.

On this day, the most magnificent celebrations are traditionally held in the Austrian capital. In particular, a military parade and an exhibition of military equipment are held on Heroes' Square, the place where eternal neutrality was proclaimed, and an open day is held in the buildings of the Austrian Parliament and the Federal Chancellery.

However, most Austrians prefer to leave the bustling city on this day and go to nature – picnics. Here they like to walk in silence, having made a weekend family walk. The National Day of the Republic of Austria is an official day off in the country, so everyone can have a good rest during the holiday.
