President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will participate in the first summit “Central Asia – Russia”, which will be held on October 14 in Astana. About this stated the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov at a briefing in Astana.

“During the summit meeting, the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia will discuss the prospects for further cooperation in the six-sided format.

As a result of the meeting, it is planned to adopt a Joint Statement of the Heads of State, which will reflect topical issues of regional cooperation in the Eurasian space. Also, the final document will note the prospects for further cooperation in such areas as politics and security, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation”, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

As we reported earlier, on October 7, an informal summit of leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in St. Petersburg, during which issues of preparation for the next meeting of the CIS heads of state on September 14 in Astana were discussed.

It also became known earlier that on October 15, Serdar Berdimuhamedov will make his first state visit to Kazakhstan after taking office as President of Turkmenistan in March this year.
