A new method for obtaining citric acid has been developed at the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan

The Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has developed a waste-free method for obtaining citric acid, based on the fermentation of microorganisms. About this reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The developed method, to a certain extent, solves one of the current problems of processing waste from industrial enterprises of the country and establishing waste-free production.

In the food industry, citric acid is widely used in the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, refining vegetable oils, and as a pH regulator. It is also used as a preservative. It is also used in the textile industry to remove

iron deposits from boilers and hot water systems, to prevent foaming, notes the source.
