Today, the Representative office of the European Union in Turkmenistan together with the Nature Conservation Society and a group of volunteers, gave food and medicine for the residents of the asylums.
Thus, the results of the campaign “10 days of love and kindness”, launched by the European Union, aimed at the support of animal rights, were summarized.
The action coincides with the adoption in Turkmenistan of the law “On dog breeding and cynological activities”, forbidding cruel treatment of dogs, the official EU website reports.
In the period from August 1 to 10, the EU Representative office in Turkmenistan called on its subscribers on social nets to publish photos and videos demonstrating love and commitments to animals.
“Our aim was to show that taking care of domestic pets and animals makes people kinder and better. We also strived to support the adoption of the new Law “On dog breeding and cynological activities” as the first step towards creation of politicy in relation of homeless animals.
Our pets and animals are living beings, but not property. It is very important to show children from the early age that caring for domestic pets and kindness to all animals should be a part of our daily life. The well-being of animals and the development of humane politics towards homeless animals are the state’s responsibility. The care of animals is part of the life of any health society”, - noted Renata Vrubel, charge d'affaires of the European Union Delegation.
10-days campaign ended with the visit to asylums for animals, located in Anau city, about a 40-minute drive southwest of Ashgabat, where there are animal shelters – “Arasa penje” and “Give me life”.
