A fragment of the arch of the famous Great Gate collapsed in Rome. As informs mir24, the incident occurred at about six in the morning. The scene of the incident was cordoned off by the police, besides that, the movement of pedestrians near the Labican Square in the area of the Termini railway station was blocked. In accordance with the reports, no one was injured in the collapse. In the near future, specialists should examine the condition of the arch.

The Great Gate (Porta Maggiore) was one of the eastern gates of ancient Rome. Initially, they were part of two aqueducts that brought water to the Eternal City. And in the III century, during the construction of the Aurelian Wall, the gates were built into this wall.
