President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for supplying coronavirus vaccines to Turkmenistan. Today the Turkmen leader said it following talks with the President of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the Kremlin's Press Service reports.
According to S. Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation have shown a brilliant example of solidarity in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
"We are grateful to the leadership of the Russian Federation for the prompt response to our request for the supply of vaccines, medicines, medical materials, and support for citizens of Turkmenistan who were on the Russian territory during this difficult period," Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.
Vladimir Putin told media representatives that 330,000 sets of Sputnik V vaccine were delivered to the Turkmen party last year, and 800,000 doses of Sputnik Lite were delivered in January this year, of which 300,000 were free of charge.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov is visiting Russia for the first time as the head of state since taking office as President of Turkmenistan on March 19, 2022. This is his first official foreign visit.
