It will be possible to get into Venice only by prior registration from July 1. The city authorities decided to return to the idea of regulating tourist flows. This initiative for the first time was announced in 2019. Now admission to the city will be carried out by an individual QR-code, which after registration will be received by each tourist.
As notes the publication daily.afisha, the measure will be experimental for now, and will become mandatory from mid-January 2023. At the same time, tourists in Venice will also have to pay an “entrance tax”, the cost of which will be from 3 to 10 euros, depending on the day of the week and the season.
It is noted that local residents, people working in the city, and also tourists who come to Venice overnight will be exempted from paying the tax.
