Actor Will Smith has announced his intention to retire from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He came to this decision after an incident that occurred at the 94th “Oscars”.
In a statement Will Smith said: “My actions were shocking, embarrassing and inexcusable. The list of people I have hurt includes Chris, his family, many of my friends and loved ones, everyone in attendance at the ceremony, and spectators at home. I abused the Academy’s trust. I have deprived other winners and nominees of the opportunity to celebrate and be honored. I am heartbroken”.
