Fishing bans remain in force from the 20th of March to the 15th of May in all water basins and lakes on the territory of the Ahal and Mary velayats, in the Karakum River and other basins in the south of Turkmenistan. Moreover, fishing is prohibited in all lands of Lebap velayat, except for the Darganatin district, where the time limits are set in the period from April 16 to May 21.
As per the State Department for the Protection of Fish Resources and Control of Aquatic Biological Resources of the Agency Turkmensenagat, the measures are aimed at protecting fish resources during their fishing for the conservation and reproduction of fish stocks.
It is forbidden to use nets and boats during this period. Amateur fishing is not prohibited, you just need to meet some requirements. So, you can fish from the shore with a fishing tackle. At the same time, one fisherman should have no more than 3 hooks.
