Poaching has caused the extinction of cheetahs in East Africa.
As informs “MIR 24”, a special center was organized in Somaliland to protect these rare cats.
The shelter contains cheetahs that were caught in the wild and tried to sell to rich people. According to Huda Ali Banfas, chairman of the cheetah shelter, poachers transport such animals in special boxes. At the same time, during transportation, cheetahs are in a state of constant stress, and some die.
Currently, there are about seven thousand cheetahs in the world, and in the Horn of Africa these wild cats are under the threat of complete extinction. We remind that, cheetahs are listed in the Red Book.
