The first batch with 10 thousand doses of the Russian Sputnik Light vaccine arrived in Turkmenistan today. This was reported by the "Vatan" news program of the Turkmen television.
According to video footage shown on television, the received vaccine is safely contained in containers with refrigerators, as required by storage conditions.
“Sputnik Light” is a lightweight version of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine that does not require a second dose. This drug was registered on Thursday by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, issuing a corresponding certificate.
At a briefing held today, Russian Ambassador to Alexander Blohin said, referring to the Turkmen Ministry of Health, that 80% of the population had been vaccinated in Turkmenistan and suggested that the new batch would be used for revaccination.
The head of the diplomatic mission also recalled that in 2021 Russia supplied Turkmenistan with 600 thousand doses of the “Sputnik V” vaccine and a small amount of the “EpiVacCorona” drug.
