Training on the use of the “Cepheid GeneXpert” system in HIV testing conducted in Turkmenistan

Training for Turkmen specialists on HIV testing using the express system “Cepheid GeneXpert” was conducted by the United Nations Development Program in Turkmenistan. This was reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

The advantages of using the automated system “GeneXpert” are that it is easy to operate, provides accurate analysis results in an hour, including sample preparation. Each test uses proprietary cartridge technology.

Laboratories with the GeneXpert system no longer need numerous instruments and separate trained personnel to obtain molecular test results.

The source notes that since 2012 Turkmenistan has been using the “Cepheid GeneXpert” test to detect tuberculosis.
