A list of banned ozone-depleting substances approved in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has approved a list of substances prohibited and restricted for use in the country that deplete the ozone layer of the atmosphere. The document was published on the legal information portal of the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan.

The list of restricted substances for use includes bromodifluoromethane and difluorochloromethane. The first of them can be used with the permission of the President of Turkmenistan. The use of difluorochloromethane is permitted within the annual norm for Turkmenistan.

The list of prohibited for use includes 21 substances. The full list can be found here.

Turkmenistan ratified the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer in November 1993. In March 1994, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and the London Amendment were signed and ratified, and in 2020 the Kigali Amendment to it. In Turkmenistan, the implementation of the Montreal Protocol is entrusted to the Ministry of Nature Protection.
