Participants of the “C5 + 1” format discussed security issues in Central Asia

Security issues in the Central Asian region, as well as topical issues of developing cooperation in the economic spheres, overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed today by the participants in the “Central Asia-USA” (C5 + 1) format. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. It was attended by the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and the US Secretary of State.

The heads of delegations examined the situation in Afghanistan, spoke in favor of rendering assistance to the Afghan people to prevent a humanitarian crisis, and the implementation of infrastructure projects that would facilitate the integration of this country into regional economic processes.

They especially noted the need to consolidate the efforts of the international community in the fight against common challenges and threats to the stability and security of the countries of the region.
