Lebap velayat Liquefied Gas Production Department has demonstrated high performance indicators. So, for seven months of this year, the growth rate compared to the same period in 2020 amounted to 106.8%.

Main bulk of the liquefied gas produced in our country is sent abroad. Export volumes have also increased significantly compared to last year's figures.

The largest producer of liquefied natural gas in Turkmenistan is the Turkmenbashi oil processing complex. Its capacity is more than 300 thousand tons, which is two-thirds of the liquefied gas produced in the country. TOPC uses about 200 thousand tons for the production of polypropylene as a component of high-octane gasoline.

The production of liquefied gas is one of the promising areas for the development of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan. The transition to liquefied gas is seen in many countries as an alternative to gasoline and diesel fuel, and the demand for gas in the world is constantly growing. Experts note that the share of liquefied natural gas accounts for more than two-thirds of China's energy imports, which is Turkmenistan's main partner in the gas sector.

British-Dutch oil and gas company Shell predicts a great future in the field of production and transportation of liquefied gas. According to the company's analysts, the global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 2020 increased to 360 million tons. China and India were the main importers of LNG last year.

According to experts, by 2040 the global demand for liquefied gas will reach 700 million tons. Gas also plays a key role in decarbonizing (reducing greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels) of the global economy. Shell experts believe that recovering the economy and overcoming the large-scale economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic through low-carbon resources, as well as consistently reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere, requires the use of cleaner energy sources. It is also expected that for the period up to 2040, the total share of gas and renewables will be 74% of the total growth of the energy sector.
