Today in Turkmenistan, according to the established good tradition, the World Health Day was celebrated. A massive bike ride was timed to coincide with this international date, enshrined in the national calendar, in which President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Early in the morning, at the beginning of the Health Path, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the capital's administration, public organizations, the media, universities, and youth gathered. Everyone welcomes the head of state with great enthusiasm.

Addressing the audience, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov cordially congratulated everyone on World Health Day. As the head of state emphasized, this wonderful holiday embodies the lofty principles of friendship, peace and sport. In this regard, it occupies a special place in the national calendar as an important date contributing to the strengthening of the unity and cohesion of society.

The socio-economic potential of our state, the spiritual revival and well-being of the people, the health of society are firmly connected with the harmonious physical and spiritual development of generations.

“Therefore, we attach special importance to the development of mass physical culture, the Olympic movement and sports in general, we are continuing with dignity such an age-old tradition of the people as the upbringing of physically and spiritually healthy generations,” Berdimuhamedov said.

A vivid confirmation of this is the construction in the country of large sports and equestrian complexes, stadiums, sports schools, the Olympic town, the formation of a modern profile infrastructure corresponding to the world level.

As the leader of the nation emphasized further, many bright events are inscribed in the sports history of our independent state. Turkmenistan has become the center for holding large-scale competitions of the world and regional level.

The World Track Cycling Championship and the Davis Cup International Tennis Tournament will take place in the capital's Olympic Town this year.

These days, together with international sports organizations, comprehensive measures are being taken to prepare for the above-mentioned major competitions and to further strengthen cooperation, the head of Turkmenistan continued.

Once again, cordially congratulating the participants of the sports action on World Health Day, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished everyone good health, prosperity and great success in enhancing the authority of Turkmenistan.

Then the head of state launched a mass bike ride, leading a column of participants dressed in appropriate sports equipment. Following the leader of the nation, everyone began to move unanimously along the route running from the Health Path along the capital avenues Archabil and Bitarap Turkmenistan.

At the start and along the route of the mass bike ride, colorful performances of creative teams unfolded.

At the “Älem” Cultural and Entertainment Center, pupils from the Palace of Orphans joined the participants of the mass bike ride. Young participants of the sports and recreation action took part in the cycling marathon on bicycles donated by the President of the country.

It should be noted that cycling has a long history and traditions in our country. As you know, the first cyclist society in Ashgabat was created in 1894, that is, 127 years ago. A year later, the first competitions were held, which marked the beginning of the development of this sport in Turkmenistan. Today, thanks to the progressive sports strategy implemented by the leader of the nation, he is gaining more and more fans among the Turkmen people.

Meanwhile, the column of participants of the bike ride, led by the President of Turkmenistan, continued its movement along the most beautiful highways of the city.

Following the route, the column of cyclists continued along Bitarap Turkmenistan Avenue, moving towards the center of the capital.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov rides a bicycle to the main square of the country, where the State Tribune is located, and finishes the current cycling marathon.

At the end of the sports action, the leader of the nation noted that today's bike ride on the occasion of World Health Day is designed to further the active involvement of the population in the mass sports and health movement.

As the head of state said, such events, which also have an environmental focus, not only have a beneficial effect on human health, but also contribute to the consolidation of society, inspire people to achieve new creative successes and labor victories.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that significant dates in the life of the country and society will be widely celebrated this year, passing under the motto “Turkmenistan is the Motherland of Peace and Trust”.

“On the eve of the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat, the main emphasis should be on maintaining the cleanliness and improvement of the country's main city, ensuring a high level of preparation for the celebrations,” the head of state said, addressing the instructions to the appropriate hands to teachers.

Saying goodbye to the participants of the sports action, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished everyone success and left the place of the event.

Today, bike rides and various sporting events timed to coincide with World Health Day were also held in all velayats of the country.
