Turkmenistan and Belarus held inter-MFA consultations

Topical areas of bilateral cooperation in the political and diplomatic sphere, as well as in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were put on the agenda of the Turkmen-Belarusian inter-ministerial consultations held today. The Turkmen side at the talks was represented by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, the Belarusian side - by the head of the Foreign Ministry Vladimir Makei.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the consultations, the effectiveness of the dialogue between authoritative regional and international structures, such as the UN, OSCE, CIS, etc., was noted. directions.

In this context, the significance of the planned events for 2021, declared in the CIS at the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as the Year of Architecture and Urban Development, was noted.

Emphasizing the constructiveness and regular nature of the Turkmen-Belarusian dialogue at the level of foreign ministries, the meeting participants considered the state of the legal framework of interstate relations and exchanged views on its improvement.

The subject of interested discussion was also the issues of further development of trade and economic partnership, which is one of the main areas of bilateral cooperation.

In this regard, the role of the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission and the Trading Houses of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Belarus in building up productive contacts, stimulating investment and industrial cooperation, increasing the volume and expanding the range of trade was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the traditional humanitarian dialogue, including in such a priority area as education, where fruitful cooperation has been established. Along with this, the sides noted the focus on continuing the established scientific, creative and cultural contacts.

Opportunities for expanding interaction and exchange of experience in the area of health were also considered.

As a result of the negotiations, the “Program of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2022” was signed.
