The International Association of Turkmen Alabays has existed for half a year already. And now breeding centers for breeding, treatment and rehabilitation of dogs in all regions of Turkmenistan, broadcasts correspondent of “MIR 24” TV channel Vladimir Serouhov.
Despite the winter, dog breeders continue to train alabays, so that pets of unique breed grow healthy.
The Turkmen Alabay is one of the oldest breeds. This is a powerful, fearless and at the same time friendly dog. For thousands of years, the wolfhound devotedly served the owner: he guarded the home and guarded livestock from predators. Now the time has come when a person protects the population of a unique breed from diseases, monitors the pedigree.
Their health is carefully monitored, the best conditions are provided, including first-class medicine. For full veterinary control, now not only special nurseries, but also clinics are working. Here pets undergo prophylaxis, diagnostics, and if necessary, receive the help of highly qualified doctors.
Veterinarian Ali Muhammetjanov:
“Our clinic has two operating rooms equipped with the latest technology, on the basis of the operating room we have an endoscope, animal health monitoring, incubators to maintain the health of seriously ill animals”.
Here dogs undergo ultrasound, X-ray, take blood and urine tests. All alabays without exception undergo compulsory medical examination. There is also a real training camp here.
Clinic veterinarian Ali Muhammetjanov:
“For this, we have special treadmills designed for Turkmen Alabayevs. There is also a special sport running ground on the basis of the clinic”.
Turkmenistan plans to add the breeding of Turkmen Alabays to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. It is forbidden to take the breed out of the country, and it is only by tradition that dogs are awarded to outstanding foreign figures.
In 2017, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented an alabay puppy to Vladimir Putin. The pet was given the nickname Verny (Faithfull) and settled in the residence of the Russian president in Novo-Ogaryovo.
