The State Migration Service hosted a solemn ceremony of handing over passports to persons accepted into the citizenship of Turkmenistan.
In accordance with the Order, signed by the Leader of nation on conducted in Friday a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the citizens of Turkmenistan became 2 thousand 580 hundred people, permanently residing in our country and are of 19 nationalities. Moreover, as per the Decree of the President of country 874 individuals received permission to live in Turkmenistan, who are the residents of 11 states and representatives of 31 nationality.
The speeches made during the ceremony expressed deep gratitude to the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the enormous attention paid to solving the problems of stateless persons, for creating all conditions for their prosperous life.
By joining main UN international – legal documents including the Convention “On the status of refugees”, “On the status of stateless persons”, “On the reduction of statelessness”, Turkmenistan by actions approves committal to the undertaken obligations. The evidences of this is implementation of the norms of international humanitarian rights in national laws, organization of global impact large representative forums.
The National Plan of actions on elimination of statelessness till 2024 approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is carried out in succession. In July of this year the new Law “On acts of civil status” came into force, and it guarantees registration of all children, born on the territory of our country independent of their parents’ status.
Generally, for the last 15 years Turkmen citizenship was given to thousand people, who under various circumstances and reasons had to leave the borders of their countries.
The Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports today that the adherence of our Motherland to enduring humanistic values is evidenced by the fact that, according to the Decree of the Head of State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, together with other relevant ministries and sectoral departments, are ordered to continue the work on the registration of documents of stateless persons who applied for their acceptance into the citizenship of our country, with the subsequent introduction of relevant proposals to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
