President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani, to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan. The corresponding proposal was made during a telephone conversation held today at the initiative of the Qatari side.
"The invitation was gratefully accepted. The dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels, " the state news Agency of Turkmenistan said in a statement.
During the telephone conversation, the President of Turkmenistan and the Emir of Qatar noted the high level of interstate dialogue, which is successfully developing thanks to the mutual goodwill of the parties, and stressed the existence of broad prospects for increasing mutually beneficial cooperation in its priority areas.
In this regard, they confirmed the desire of both countries to strengthen productive trade and economic partnership and promote close business contacts in various sectors.
Based on the existing solid potential, the oil and gas sector, transport and communications, chemical and textile industries, trade and investment, where there are great opportunities for long-term cooperation and implementation of joint projects, were identified as promising areas of cooperation.
At the same time, it was noted that an integral part of the Turkmen-Qatari relations is the traditional interaction in the humanitarian and cultural field, based on the common historical roots and spiritual and cultural values of the two peoples.
Having exchanged views on topical issues of regional and global issues, the interlocutors stressed the commitment of Turkmenistan and the state of Qatar to a long-term partnership within the framework of reputable international organizations, where our countries demonstrate mutual support for the constructive proposals and initiatives put forward.
During the conversation, the topic of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the world, which has become a serious challenge for all mankind, was also touched upon. At the same time, they were convinced of the need to further consolidate the efforts of the international community in the fight against the spread of this dangerous infection.
