The meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan will be held on September 25, 2020 in the Ruhyyet Palace in Ashgabat. The corresponding Decree was signed today by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the information program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.
The document prescribes:
Create an organizing Committee to hold a high-level meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and approve its composition.
In accordance with the Procedure for electing public representatives to the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, approved by the decree of the President of Turkmenistan No. 385 "on organizing the first meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan" dated July 5, 2018, to ensure the holding of elections of public representatives to the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and to submit to the Office of the President of Turkmenistan by September 1, 2020 a list of members elected to the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan from the velayats and the city of Ashgabat.
The Mejlis of Turkmenistan shall provide organizational and methodological assistance to the velayat, etrap and city Halk Maslahaty in the activities related to the election of public representatives to the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, as well as the preparation and holding of the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and coordinate these activities.
Control over execution of this Decree shall carry out the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, managing the Affairs of the office of the President of Turkmenistan and the Cabinet of Ministers, hyakims of velayats and Ashgabat city, managing the Affairs of the administration of the Halk Maslahaty, the chairmen of the Khalk Maslakhaty of velayats and Ashgabat city.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also signed a Decree ordering ministries and industry departments to ensure that the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is held at a high organizational level.
This Resolution was signed in order to implement the Decision of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan No. 2 dated September 25, 2019 "on convening a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan in 2020", as well as for organizing a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
The Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan is the highest representative body that conducts its work in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and represents the interests of the people of Turkmenistan. Halk Maslahaty was formed in 1992 and lasted until 2008. After a break, it was re-formed on October 9, 2017 in
accordance with the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan. According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated October 10, 2017, the first meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was convened in 2018 in Ashgabat.
