Development of the North Goturdepe oil and gas field continues in the West of Turkmenistan. The company "Yug-Neftegaz" (Singapore) has completed drilling two wells here – No. 332 and No. 316, the design depth of each of which is five thousand meters. In the process of sampling the received industrial inflows of oil.

An investment project to put one of the most promising fields in the Caspian coastal zone into commercial development started in 2018. In accordance with the Agreement signed by the State concern "Türkmennebit" and the company "Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited", it is planned to drill a total of 60 verticals, horizontal and directional wells with a depth of 4500 to 5500 meters. According to preliminary calculations, the increase in geological oil reserves will be approximately 38.5 million tons, and in the course of further work, the estimate of the total reserves of the field may increase to 87.3 million tons.

Currently, four more wells located in the shallow waters of the Caspian Sea are being constructed as part of this project: No. 250, No. 315, No. 317 and No. 319. Their drilling points were selected after additional 3D seismic surveys conducted at the North Goturdepe field and adjacent areas to a depth of up to 7 km.

Accelerated industrial development of promising fields of the Turkmen shelf and the Caspian coastal zone, attracting foreign companies and investments to cooperate in this area, is one of the main tasks set by the President of Turkmenistan to specialists of the oil and gas complex.

We remind that the exploration of the offshore section of the Goturdepe field was carried out in the 90s of the XX century, but due to the intensive increase in the level of the Caspian Sea and flooding of the territory adjacent to the Bay, the work was suspended at that time. The state concern "Türkmennebit" resumed them in 2010. When drilling wells, new highly productive oil reservoirs were discovered, lying at a depth of more than 4,000 thousand meters, which gave powerful fountain inflows of oil.

Data obtained in recent years as a result of prospecting and exploration work, suggest that the Northern Goturdepe is not part of a single large Goturdepe field, as previously thought. This is a separate field, part of which is located in the marine zone.

In General, all this testifies to the huge hydrocarbon potential of Turkmenistan, confirming the forecasts of experts about the presence of exceptionally promising structures for oil and gas in the country's bowels and, accordingly, the possible opening of new rich storehouses of hydrocarbon raw materials.
