Sport in the world today is an important social phenomenon that actively affects the development of society. Leading politicians around the world consider sport to be the most important unifying force, a national idea that contributes to the formation of a strong state and a healthy society.

Cycling, which includes a variety of disciplines, is a universal means of physical education and has unique opportunities to develop motor abilities and improve the health of people of all age groups and different levels of fitness. These facts put it among the priority sports, and also contribute to increasing the number of citizens of Turkmenistan who regularly engage in physical culture and sports.

Thanks to the efforts made by the leader of Turkmenistan, as well as his personal example, there has been a sharp rise in the popularization of Cycling and Cycling in the country, which is certainly confirmed by such facts as the constant holding of mass bike rides with the participation of the head of our state. The quality of roads has improved dramatically, which is an essential condition for road Cycling.

A velodrome for 6000 spectators has been built in the Olympic town of Ashgabat. With the commissioning of the 250-meter-long and 7-meter-wide bike track, there are great opportunities for the development of Cycling. This facility has proved itself brilliantly during the competitions in the framework of the V Asian indoor and martial arts games in 2017 in Ashgabat.

The bike track was certified by the International Cycling Union and was recognized as the most modern velodrome in the region. Thanks to this, our athletes have a unique opportunity to master a new discipline for them - track racing, which will allow them to master this type of racing perfectly and perform well at the upcoming 2021 world championship in Ashgabat.

On the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on April 12, 2018, the 82nd UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a Resolution declaring June 3 as International Bicycle day. For the first time, this day was popularly celebrated in Turkmenistan, which served to create a remarkable tradition of annual festive sports Cycling events. In 2020, mass sports bike rides are being held across the country to mark this event.

The main event of today was the Grand opening of the monument in honor of the UN-established world Bicycle day in Ashgabat.
