Today, Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with representatives of the United Nations and its structural divisions working in Turkmenistan.
The main topic of the meeting was a recent telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
As the foreign Minister explained, the President of Turkmenistan and the UN Secretary General confirmed the high level of cooperation, and also discussed topical issues on the international agenda, in particular the social and economic situation in the world in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, the parties considered ways to improve interaction by strengthening joint actions. Thus, the Turkmen side is ready to provide its experience and capabilities to solve problems and is working on developing a National plan under the auspices of the UN.
The Minister stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with all UN structures operating in Turkmenistan to implement the goals announced by the Head of state for the common good.
UN representatives in Ashgabat highly appreciated the actions of the government of Turkmenistan, as well as the openness of the country and its commitment to establishing international mechanisms in the field of health, food security, and transport. It was noted that this telephone conversation is a clear evidence of friendship, trust and mutual understanding between Turkmenistan and the UN, the website of the country's foreign Ministry reports.
