On behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on his re-election as President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the press service of the head of state reported.
The Turkmen leader expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, based on mutual respect and trust, will develop and strengthen in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
Taking this opportunity, the head of state expressed his wishes to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for good health, happiness and well-being, as well as success in the highest state post in the name of progress and prosperity of fraternal Afghanistan.
The President of Turkmenistan also sincerely congratulated The President of the IRA and the fraternal Afghan people on the international day of Novruz, expressing wishes for peace and prosperity.
As a result of the elections held in September 2019, the current President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, was re-elected as President for the next five years, winning 50.65% of the vote. The final election results were announced by the Independent Electoral Commission of Afghanistan on February 18, 2020.
