A consultation meeting to discuss the Country program of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for 2021-2025 was held today in the building of the United Nations office in Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by the head of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan, Kristin Weigand, representatives of the national Parliament, national ministries and departments, public organizations, and youth, the state news Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

During the meeting, the participants were familiarized with the key areas, as well as with the additions that are proposed to be included in the new program of cooperation. Based on the priority areas of interaction between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, this document is aimed at strengthening relations in the field of children's health, nutrition, harmonious development, social protection, quality education, as well as improving public administration in this area.

The country cooperation program is a contribution of UNICEF to national efforts to implement the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, in particular the sustainable development Goals for children. It also aims to promote the implementation of the socio-economic development strategy and The national plan of action for the rights of the child for 2018-2022.

In her speech, the head of the office of the UN Children's Fund in Turkmenistan gave a high assessment of the level of development of partnership with our country, expressing readiness to continue working together in the interests of children.

In Turkmenistan, comprehensive measures are being taken to ensure the comprehensive development, education and quality education of the younger generation, and state programs in this area are being successfully implemented.

Our country has joined the basic international legal documents in this area. In particular, the UN Convention on the rights of the child was ratified, which is the first international document covering a wide range of civil, economic, cultural, social and political issues.

Within the framework of the current program of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF for 2016-2020, positive results were achieved in providing quality and inclusive education, raising awareness of children in the field of climate change, etc.

The participants of the meeting discussed approaches to the implementation of the Country program of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN Children's Fund for 2021-2025.
