Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals on the first day of the world Sambo championship, which is held in Cheongju (Republic of Korea).
Akhmet Tanriberdiyev (weight category up to 57 kg) and Charymyrat Annagurbanov (up to 100 kg) became the owners of "bronze" in combat Sambo. In both weight categories 12 athletes acted on.
Sambo is a non-Olympic sport. On November 30, 2018, the international Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the temporary recognition of Sambo for 3 years.
The next world Cup will be held in Ashgabat in 2020.
