The next meeting of the Council of CIS heads of state will be held in Tashkent on October 16, 2020. The decision was made today by the heads of the Commonwealth of independent States, RIA Novosti reported.
"In accordance with our documents, the chairmanship of the Commonwealth in the next calendar year should go to the Republic of Uzbekistan. You know that the President of Uzbekistan has repeatedly confirmed his readiness for the future presidency. The leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan proposes to hold a regular meeting of the Council of heads of state on Friday, October 16, 2020, in Tashkent, " - said the head of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put the issue to a vote. The motion was unanimously adopted.
Turkmenistan solemnly handed over the chairmanship to Uzbekistan. He will traditionally take the post of co-Chairman. Belarus will work in the same status next year in order to assume the presidency in the next annual period.
