The Turkmenistan national football team today arrived in Beirut on a Middle East Airlines flight from Dubai to the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match against the Lebanese national football team.
As part of the Turkmenistan team, 23 players, a coaching and administrative headquarters arrived in the capital of Lebanon. Upon arrival, the delegation of guests was accommodated in one of the hotels in Beirut.
On October 10, in Beirut, at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, a match against the Lebanese national team will be held as part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. The beginning is at 21:00 Ashgabat time.
The national teams of the two countries met each other only twice, back in 1996. In the away match, the wards of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Bayram Durdyyev lost to Lebanon — 1:3. A week later, the home meeting also ended in defeat — 0:1. After this, the teams did not intersect at the national team level. The head coach of the Lebanese national team today is the Romanian specialist Liviu Ciobotariu.
