On October 19, 2019, the concert "Berlioz-150 years of memory", organized by the French Embassy in Turkmenistan, the French Institute and the Ministry of culture of Turkmenistan, will be held at the Makhtymkuli Music and drama theater in Ashgabat.
The first part of the musical evening will be dedicated to the memory of the French composer and conductor Hector Berlioz. The second movement will feature 19th-century French Opera arias (Georges Bizet, Charles Franchicos Gounod, Leo Delibes, Jules Massenet, Jacques Offenbach). Entrance to the concert is free.
The state Symphony orchestra of Turkmenistan and soprano Opera singer Magali Leger (France) will take part in the concert of French music. Magalie Leger performs a modern French light soprano. The singer originally from Guadeloupe, she is a student of Christiana EDA-Pierre. In 1999, she received a diploma of higher musical education at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 2003, she was nominated for the Victoire de La Musique award in the Discovery of the year category.
