Through the use of the latest aviation technology, Turkmenistan’s aviators have the opportunity to further expand the geography of regular international flights.

According to the Turkmenhovayollary Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Communication of Turkmenistan, Turkmenportal was informed that in December of 2019, Turkmenistan Airlines plan to resume regular air communication with the capital of Malaysia. The flight to Kuala Lumpur will be operated on the Boeing 777-200LR three times a week. Also, regular flights to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) will open in December, they will fly from Ashgabat twice a week.

Turkmenistan Airlines aviators plan to use Ashgabat's advantageous geographical location to organize transit air transportation of tourists traveling to religious shrines from Southeast Asia and back. Turkmenistan Airlines are planning new routes to the countries of Southeast Asia, in particular Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). Currently, routes are being developed that will allow tourists from Europe, Turkey, the CIS countries, Thailand and Vietnam to fly to the Arabian Peninsula through the Ashgabat International Airport.

In recent years, the Turkmenistan Airlines carrier’s fleet has been replenished with well-proven Boeing models. To date, the national air fleet includes 19 Boeing aircraft. So, in 2013, three Boeing 737-800 airliners arrived, in 2014 - two Boeing 777-200LRs, in 2015 three more Boeing 737-800s were purchased, and in subsequent 2016-2017 several Boeing aircraft were purchased. Recently, Turkmenhovayollary Agency signed a contract for the purchase of a new Boeing 777-200LR aircraft; the delivery of the airliner is scheduled for January 2021.
