April 22-24, 2019 in Astrakhan (Russia) at the Caspian Sea and River Transport Institute, the first meeting of the delegations of the defense departments of the Caspian states was held, the website "Turkmenistan: the golden age" reports.

Representatives of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia discussed issues related to the implementation of the Agreement on the Prevention of Incidents in the Caspian Sea, signed in Aktau in August 2018 following the V Summit of the heads of the Caspian states. This document is aimed at implementing the basic principles of interaction and strengthening stability in the Caspian region.

At the meeting, the parties confirmed a high level of trust between the fleets of the Caspian states, and also expressed their readiness to discuss the draft Agreement on Confidence Building Measures in the Caspian Sea in the future.

Director of the Caspian Sea and River Transport Institute Olga Kartashova particularly noted the constructive efforts of Turkmenistan to secure the status of the sea of ​​peace, friendship and harmony to the Caspian Sea, and the significance of the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to hold the Avaza National Tourist Zone First Caspian Economic Forum.
