Spring reboot: giving your hair a second life

Over the long winter months, hair often loses its beauty: it becomes dull, becomes brittle and splits. Dry indoor air, lack of sunlight and vitamins, as well as constant wearing of a hat negatively affect hair health. How can you help your curls gain strength, shine and beauty?

Wash your hair correctly

In the off-season, rely on nourishing and restorative shampoos and conditioners. Set aside volumizing products and pay attention to masks. Use store-bought or salon masks 1-2 times a week.

Experts advise paying attention to the water temperature. The higher the temperature outside, the cooler the water should be when washing your hair. Water at room temperature improves blood flow to the hair follicles and also seals the scales of dry and colored hair.

It is recommended to wash your hair once every two days. However, this washing schedule may not suit everyone. So, owners of mixed hair types should focus on individual characteristics and wash their hair as it gets dirty.

Dry your hair on the cool setting of the hairdryer

If time permits, let your hair dry naturally. This is the most gentle option that will not damage the hair structure. If time is short, use a towel to carefully remove excess moisture. Do not rub your hair, but pat it dry with a towel. It is better to set the hairdryer to cool mode. Hot air can make hair dry and brittle.

Limit the use of stylers. You should not curl or straighten your hair every day, especially if it is no longer in the best condition.

Moisturize your hair

To restore the health and beauty that your hair has lost over the winter, you need to apply moisturizing balms, sprays or serums to it. Moisturizers are applied to the ends and along the entire length of the hair, avoiding the roots.

Get rid of split ends of hair

Many women spend time and money fighting split ends, but, alas, these attempts are doomed to failure. Miracle serums and oils only temporarily mask the problem by gluing together split hairs. Once you stop using them, split ends come back.

The only sure way to get rid of this problem is to contact an experienced stylist. Don't be afraid to part with 3-5 centimeters of length: you will be pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful and healthy your hair will become without split ends.

Nourish your hair from the inside out

The health and beauty of hair directly depends on our diet. Spring vitamin deficiency, when reserves of vitamins and microelements are depleted, has a particularly negative effect on their condition.

It's time to switch to the spring-summer menu! Avoid fatty and spicy foods and opt for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and nuts. Add more fish, beef or chicken liver, dairy products and eggs to your diet.

What vitamins does hair need?

Vitamins D, A, E and group B: will help restore the vitality of hair, make it stronger and shiny.

Zinc, iron and calcium: strengthen hair, stimulate hair growth and fight hair loss.

Choose the right comb

Frequent hair loss and brittleness? The culprit may not only be stress or improper care, but also... an unsuitable comb!

We select a comb according to hair type:

Thick and long hair: a wide, wide-toothed comb made of natural bristles or modern materials is suitable.
Medium length: universal massage brush or brushing.
Short haircuts: comb or skeleton brush.
For curly hair, use a wide-toothed comb with rounded ends.

A few simple rules:

  • do not comb wet hair;
  • start combing from the ends;
  • do not make sudden movements;
  • use a comb to massage your head.
