New rules governing the keeping of wild animals will come into force in Uzbekistan on January 1, 2025. According to the decree published in the National Database of Legislation of the Republic, the use of wild animals in circus performances will be completely prohibited, MIR 24 reports.

The innovations will affect all circus organizations in the country, including both stationary state and traveling circuses. In addition, the legislation restricts the keeping of 67 species of animals in domestic conditions and artificial habitats.

According to the new decree, these species of animals can be kept exclusively in specialized institutions – zoos, nurseries, terrariums, oceanariums and serpentariums. At the same time, all such organizations must obtain a special permit from the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.

The State Circus of Uzbekistan has already begun to adapt to the upcoming changes and has introduced an innovative solution – now, instead of live animals, their 3D holograms are used in performances, as reported by the Tashkent_Land portal.
