In the opening round of the Azerbaijan Football Championship, the “Turan-Tovuz” team, led by Turkmen specialist Kurban Berdyev, played a draw with Baku's “Neftchi”. The match, which was held in Baku, ended with a score of 0:0, azerisport.com reports.
After the game, Kurban Berdyev shared his impressions of the match. He noted that the team expected a tough game, given the strength of the opponent. The coach was pleased with the players' dedication, but emphasized the need to improve the attack. “This game revealed our shortcomings and the direction in which we need to work”, - Berdyev said.
Despite the draw, the coach of “Turan-Tovuz” admitted that the team was focused on winning. He also noted that players' fatigue at the end of the match is normal at this stage of the season.
Speaking about the goals for the season, Berdyev emphasized the team's maximum ambitions, despite understanding the level of the squad. “We set maximum goals in every game”, - the coach said.
This match was an important start for “Turan-Tovuz” and personally for Kurban Berdyev in the new championship. A draw with a strong opponent can be a good starting point for the further development of the team under the guidance of an experienced specialist.
