The Perceptive company has presented an innovative development in the field of dentistry – a robot with artificial intelligence, which successfully performed its first procedure on a person. This was reported by snob.ru with reference to New Atlas.
The new technology uses an advanced 3D scanner to create an accurate model of the patient's mouth, eliminating the need for X-rays. This not only speeds up the process, but also reduces the risks to the patient's health.
The robotic dentist demonstrated impressive efficiency: preparing a tooth for a crown took only 15 minutes, while a human dentist usually needs about two hours. The developers also note that the device is able to adapt to the patient's movements, ensuring the safety of the procedure.
Perceptive CEO Chris Ciriello is confident that their invention will improve the quality and accessibility of dental services. However, it is worth noting that the robot has not yet received official approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.
The company plans to expand the robot's capabilities and introduce new types of dental procedures. All human trials conducted to date have shown positive results.
